Start a Liverpool wedding venue search with your guest count, catering needs and ceremony plans. Those decisions will narrow the halls that fit. The eight venues below have different capacities and food arrangements, along with lighting and access details worth discussing with your photographer.
Guest numbers, dates and registrars
A typical UK wedding planning figure is 70 to 90 day guests. If your Nigerian, South Asian or large Irish-Scouse family celebration starts at 250 and may pass 400, you need to compare rooms for that larger number. Set a realistic guest estimate before asking about layouts.
Licensed civic venues often book Saturdays from May to September twelve to eighteen months ahead. October to March may offer more choice. Winter also brings low, warm light from about two in the afternoon, with illuminated buildings for later photographs, though you need to plan for shorter daylight.
At St George’s Hall and Liverpool Town Hall, the registrar is booked separately through Liverpool Register Office. Check the registrar’s diary alongside the venue’s before committing to the date.

Eight Liverpool wedding and reception halls
These capacities are the venues’ published figures. Confirm the number for your layout: a stage and dancefloor can remove 30 seats.
1. St George’s Hall, St George’s Place
St George’s Hall is Grade I listed. Its Great Hall takes 500 for a seated banquet, 830 theatre-style and up to 1,200 standing. The circular Concert Room seats up to 500. The venue is licensed, with registrars booked separately. The room has space for an 80-person group photograph, but its barrel-vaulted ceiling is too high for useful bounced flash. Plan lights on stands.
2. Liverpool Town Hall, High Street
Liverpool Town Hall is Georgian, with a sweeping staircase that gives portraits a recognisable setting. The Large Ballroom holds 270 theatre-style or 210 for a banquet, reducing to 180 with a stage and dancefloor. The Council Chamber takes 220 theatre-style. The rooms are licensed. Large ballroom windows provide daylight for an afternoon ceremony, so consider their position when choosing the time.
3. Rum Warehouse at Titanic Hotel, Stanley Dock
The Rum Warehouse at Titanic Hotel is a converted dock warehouse licensed for civil ceremonies. It seats up to 500 for a wedding breakfast, with minimums of 100 day and 180 evening guests. In-house catering includes Asian, Halal and Kosher menus, along with Caribbean, Greek and vegan options. Brick, cast-iron columns and dark surfaces absorb light in a large room. The photographer needs to expose for skin and plan additional lighting.
4. Devonshire House, Edge Lane
Devonshire House’s Marquee Suite seats 350 for a banquet or 500 buffet-style and is licensed for ceremonies. The Botanic Suite takes 150 seated or 250 buffet-style, with patio doors onto the gardens. Its published own-catering room-hire package allows an outside caterer, useful for a large multicultural reception. Use the patio-door light when planning indoor portraits.
5. Anfield, Liverpool Football Club
Anfield is licensed for civil ceremonies, with dining for 500 and reception space quoted up to 2,000. The Reds Suite in the Sir Kenny Dalglish Stand holds up to 300. The Shanks and Paisley lounges range from 64 to 300, and halal and kosher catering are available in house. If pitchside photographs matter to you, allow around fifteen minutes and discuss a plan for flat or changing outdoor light.
6. Aintree Racecourse, Ormskirk Road
At Aintree Racecourse, the Princess Royal Suite takes 350 theatre-style, 300 for dining or 220 cabaret and can be divided into two smaller suites. Civil ceremonies are licensed for up to 200. Its multicultural wedding package allows specialist caterers, with halal catering among the options. Windows along one side provide daylight, while flat access and substantial on-site parking help with a 300-guest day.
7. Isla Gladstone Conservatory, Stanley Park
Isla Gladstone Conservatory is a restored Victorian glasshouse seating about 156 for a meal. It is licensed for ceremonies up to 250 and has an adjacent bandstand for licensed outdoor ceremonies in Liverpool. The venue is climate controlled with on-site parking. There is plenty of natural light, but midday July sun through the glass can be hard to manage. Consider a later ceremony.
8. Liverpool Olympia, West Derby Road
Liverpool Olympia is a variety theatre dating from 1905. It takes 1,223 fully seated or 1,917 in a mix of standing and seated across three levels, with an in-house stage and production facilities. It is hired as an events venue, so confirm the ceremony licence and catering directly. The balconies provide an elevated viewpoint for a wide photograph of 1,000 guests.
Wedding photography costs in Liverpool
Bridebook’s 2026 wedding report puts average UK photography spending at £1,484, with a typical range of £500 to £2,500. London and South East prices are around £200 to £500 higher. Liverpool and the North West sit at or slightly below the national average. Ask what coverage and services explain a higher quote.
A 400-guest celebration with a ceremony, traditional engagement and reception, perhaps with another room running in parallel, needs different coverage from a 70-guest registry-office day. A second photographer typically adds £400 to £600. For a 300-plus wedding in a room such as the Great Hall, discuss how the team would cover family groups and simultaneous events.
A ten-hour wedding can produce several thousand raw frames. Culling, editing and grading take twenty to thirty hours before the finished images reach your gallery. Agree the delivery schedule in writing before booking. For CameraBoss coverage, see current pricing and contact us about your plans.

Light, timings and logistics in Liverpool
Plan separately for the light during the ceremony and the reception. High windows in civic buildings can give good daytime light, while evening tungsten uplighting and ceilings around forty feet high may need a different setup. Agree positions for lights on stands before guests sit down.
St George’s Hall, the Town Hall and waterfront are within roughly fifteen minutes’ walk of each other, giving a city-centre wedding the option of portraits at the Pier Head without a car. Devonshire House is around a mile out. Allow twenty to thirty minutes in traffic for Aintree or Anfield; a return portrait trip can take forty minutes out of the schedule.
For a Merseyside wedding, choose an indoor plan for wet weather. Isla Gladstone and the Rum Warehouse have indoor spaces to use; the Town Hall steps leave you exposed. For outdoor options, see our guide to ten outdoor photography locations in Liverpool.
Cameraboss in Liverpool
We work from Leicester and London and cover Liverpool regularly. Discuss the journey and whether arriving the night before would suit the start time. Confirm travel, any overnight stay and their costs in the written quote before booking.
Cameraboss is a British Nigerian studio working in luxury and documentary wedding photography, named Creative Photographer of the Year at the Creative Industry Awards 2024. If you book photography and film, confirm who will cover each service, the shared timeline and your point of contact in writing. See our traditional and Nigerian ceremonies work or the film side.
We plan around the ceremony’s running order, including the money spray and where elders will stand during an engagement. At a 500-guest reception, that preparation helps us find the right position before a moment begins. In a dim hall, we meter for skin and grade darker skin tones carefully frame by frame.
